Work function change of platinum electrodes induced by halide ad-

چکیده
8 The properties of a halogen-covered platinum (111) surface have been studied using density func9 tional theory (DFT) as halides are often present at electrochemical electrode/electrolyte interfaces. 10 We focused in particular on the halogen-induced work function change as a function of coverage 11 of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine. For electronegative adsorbates, an adsorption-induced 12 increase of the work function is usually expected, yet we find a work function decrease for Cl, Br 13 and I which is most prominent at a coverage of approximately 0.25 ML. This coverage-dependent 14 behavior can be explained through a combination of charge transfer and polarization effects on the 15 adsorbate layer. The results are contrasted to the adsorption of fluorine on calcium, a system in 16 which a decrease in the work function is also observed despite involving large charge transfer to 17 the halogen adatom. 18

Change of the work function of platinum electrodes induced by halide adsorption
The properties of a halogen-covered platinum(111) surface have been studied by using density functional theory (DFT), because halides are often present at electrochemical electrode/electrolyte interfaces. متن کاملDesign of Highly Uniform Platinum and Palladium Nanoparticle Decoration on TiO2 Nanotube Arrays: An Efficient Anode to the Electro-Oxidation of Alcohols
We explore electro-catalytic properties of a system consisting of platinum and palladium nanoparticles dispersed over a nanotubular self-organized TiO2 matrix. These electrodes prepared by electroess and microemulsion of palladium and palladium nanoparticles on to TiO2 nanotubes, respectively. Titanium oxide nanotubes were fabricated by anodizing titanium foil in ethylene glycol (EG) fluoride-c...

By anodizing of titanium and then electroplating of Platinum on surface anodized titanium, electrodes with high effective surface catalytic were made. Consideration of surface morphology using scanning electron microscope (SEM) shows that, with anodizing, micro porous layer on titanium surface was prepared. The electro catalytic behavior of this type of electrodes in the isopropanol electro oxi...
متن کاملElectrogenerated chemiluminescence. 66. The role of direct coreactant oxidation in the ruthenium tris(2,2')bipyridyl/tripropylamine system and the effect of halide ions on the emission intensity
We describe the electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) processes of the Ru(bpy)3(2+) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridyl)/ tripropylamine (TPrA) system at glassy carbon, platinum, and gold electrodes. The electrochemical behavior of TPrA on different electrode materials and its influence on the ECL process are demonstrated. At glassy carbon electrodes, the direct oxidation of TPrA began at approximately 0....

In this work, electrocatalyst with core-shell structure (Pd as core and Pt as shell on VulcanXC-72R) was synthesis. Not only this structure can reduce the amount of platinum but it also can increase the gas diffusion electrode (GDE) performance in cathode reaction (Oxygen Reduction Reaction or ORR) of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). To this meaning, one series of electrocatalyst...
